We were contacted by a firm of solicitors who were winding up the estate on behalf of the owner, and they asked us to carry out a complete clearance of this three-bedroom house on Lodge Drive in Palmers Green, London, N13. They informed us that there had been a previous problem with rodents and that as a result some of the contents were in a bad condition. We informed them that we would salvage what we could from the clearance because we always attempt to reuse as much as possible.
Clearance Overview
One of the solicitors met us at the property at 8.30am on the day of the clearance, and we immediately set to work removing items. It was clear that, although the majority of items were still salvageable, some of them had been too damaged by rodents to be used again. These included the sofa, the carpets throughout the property and some of the wardrobes in the bedrooms.
We removed everything quickly, working in pairs where necessary to remove the larger objects and load them into our closed unmarked vans. There was a lot of general clutter throughout the property, and we put this into bags and boxes to remove it quicker and more conveniently.
After everything had been cleared, we set to work on cleaning the property to a professional standard throughout. We had to remove the carpets and underlay first, and then we went through every room in the property using our specialist cleaning equipment to leave it looking very clean.
Disposal of Contents
All of the items that could be reused were donated to two local charity shops so that they could find new owners for them and raise some money at the same time. Anything else was sent to be recycled at our recycling centre, and those items that could not be recycled were sent to landfill, but fortunately this was only a very small percentage of the total.
