Clearance Requirements
The owner of this five-bedroom detached house on Colney Hatch Lane in Muswell Hill, London, N10, contacted us to request a clearance of the furniture that remained after he had already attempted to clear the property himself. The job had been far larger than he had expected, so he had decided to leave it to the professionals. He wanted to sell the property and was planning on decorating it himself, so he asked us to clear it of items as soon as possible.
Clearance Overview
Most of the smaller items had already been cleared by the owner, but there were lots of items of furniture that still had to be removed, including two large sofas, three double beds, two wardrobes and the white goods from the kitchen.
We went through the property clearing every room as we went, starting with the living room and moving through the kitchen, hallway, bathrooms and bedrooms. We finished clearing the furniture by midday, and then we removed the carpets and underlay. There was also a shed in the garden that was filled with old tools and machinery, so we cleared this as well.
We finished up by providing a quick clean of the property to leave it looking presentable, but we did not provide a deep clean because the owner was planning to decorate the property.
Disposal of Contents
Nearly all of the furniture that we removed was suitable for reusing, and because we hate to throw anything away that can be reused we enquired at a few local charities whether they would be happy to receive them as donations. In the end we managed to donate every item of furniture as well as some plates and crockery from the kitchen. Anything that could not be reused was taken to our recycling centre, and only a few small items had to be sent to landfill.
