Clearance Requirements

The requirements were to fully clear a 6 bedroom 3 storey terraced house in Fonthill Rd Finsbury Park London N4. The property had been let to students, but the landlord planned to completely renovate the property and sell it to a property developer. We were requested to remove all furniture, and also the washing machine and drier, and also to clear large amounts of rubbish from the garden, and cut it back and restore it.

Clearance Overview

Fonthill Road has parking restrictions during the week, but is unrestricted at weekends. Traffic is also a major problem in the area, so we decided to carry out the clearance on a Sunday. We arrived on site at 6 a.m., found parking easily, and immediately started work. Because the property is terraced, the only way to access the garden is through the front door, so we put down protective dust sheets to prevent damage to the hallway carpet and front entrance. We then started removing beds, desks, chests of drawers, curtains, carpets, rugs, an electric stove, a sofa, armchairs, and other furnishings. We then cleaned the property thoroughly and isolated the utilities, finally clearing the rubbish from the garden before handing the keys back to the client at 5.30 p.m.

Disposal of Contents

The furniture had evidently been purchased second hand and was of variable quality, but most of it was in very good condition, and we were able to re-sell some of it through our retail division, and donate a substantial part to local charities. Only the carpets were too worn to be re-used and these were sent to our recycling centre. Only a very small proportion of the house contents were sent to landfill.
