CLEARANCE DATE: 26th July 2012
PROPERTY LOCATION: Jubilee Road, Finchampstead, Berkshire, RG40
CLEARANCE TYPE: Full house and garden clearance
PROPERTY TYPE: 4-bedroom house
Clearance Overview
This large property came with an enormous garden which needed clearing. Clearing the property of its household furniture and effects was the main objective and the client asked us to do the best we could with the garden so as to make it presentable and not too daunting when viewed by a prospective buyer. There was lots of off-street parking available, and the quiet area meant that it was not likely that we would disturb any of the neighbours or other road users. The property had a few years of accumulated possessions and this applied to the garden area also which had an abundance of garden furniture terracotta pots and an old garden roller that was so heavy it was difficult to budge and almost buried in the ground behind a collapsed garden shed which was now a home for a family of foxes. The owner did not want to keep any of the proceeds of the house clearance, and simply required a complete removal of all the items so that he could decorate and sell the property.
Clearance Requirements
As part of the garden clearance we were asked to clear two dead trees which subsequently had to be logged up with a chainsaw by our gardening team. The client wanted the kitchen cabinets to be cleaned thoroughly of all traces of out of date food, remove the cooker from its bayonet fitting and clear all residual kitchen contents. We found a few items of value during the clearance including a nice collection of advertising memorabilia from the 1930’s which we made a financial allowance, helping offset the cost of the house clearance. A few good bottles of vintage red wine were kindly given out to the guys by the client advising us wisely to wait until we got home before cracking it open. This which was greatly appreciated by all concerned.
Disposal of Contents
Apart from the items kept for resale, the majority of the remaining furniture and effects were reused via local charities. Some of these items included a large table from the kitchen and a considerable amount of general effects such as ceramics, books and dvd’s. Other items, such as the DVD player and kitchen utensils, were given to a hostel we work with local to our headquarters. Of the remainder some went to our depot for recycling and a handful went to landfill.
Client Comments
The client was on the scene for most of the day, and at the end of the day when we left the house completely cleared he thanked us for a job well done. His next plan is to decorate the house and landscape the garden then market it for sale.
