Colchester house clearance specialists Avery Associates discover over 300 oil paintings during a recent house clearance in Essex
We were called to carry out a house clearance in Colchester, Essex by the son of a local artist. His father had sadly passed away just after Christmas and left a 3 bedroom semi for a total house clearance. The rooms were surprisingly sparse in the way of furnishings but it had an abundance of artist materials along with many items of studio pottery and ceramics.
We started clearing from the kitchen which was well stocked with food in cupboards and general kitchenalia and crockery. Moving on to the conservatory we removed a cane 3 piece suite and some small furniture items and side tables. There was also a large amount of magazines and newspapers. From there it was the lounge which had the normal sofa set dating from the 50’s and a nice danish dining table and six chairs, which were all cleared into our truck for recycling.
Next was the bedrooms that contained a couple of beds and the usual chests of drawers, dressing table bedside cabinets and wardrobes full of clothes and shoes. The boxroom was practically empty apart from a pair of steps and a few empty suitcases and boxes.
The next are to clear was the loft which was a large conversion into an artist’s studio. The studio was stacked with picture frames and paintings of all styles and sizes, over 300 paintings in all were removed. MOst of the paintings were local landscapes and views which were very well painted. The pictures were donated to one of our charities and were appreciated by many local people. Finally we cleared a small shed of gardening tools and a shredder – Job completed and another happy customer. Our client thanked us for the work and we made our way back to our recycling centre.
