“He Was A Bit Of A Hoarder” – A Common Statement – Jeffrey Avery Talks About Compulsive Hoarding

June 7, 2012 By Avery Associates

“He Was A Bit Of A Hoarder” – A Common Statement

Having carried out countless house clearance of hoarders houses we have become very experienced with the whole situation. We see a very similar and common pattern to the hoarding, and because of amount of house clearances we have carried out the job has become very straightforward for us. So if you instruct us to do the work you can rest assured that from the very start you are in good hands. We will clear the property in question methodically and efficiently no matter what size the house may be or how heavily cluttered it is.

A Methodical Approach When Clearing The House Contents

We adopt the same approach for all jobs but scaling up or down depending on the amount of contents to clear. Having said this can i point out that the majority of our work is when the occupant has sadly passed on, but we are also able to provide a clearance and cleaning service when the occupant is still present in the property. We can supply boxes and packaging and work with you to separate items into other areas of the house for sorting or grading later once the bulk of the contents have been removed. We find this a positive approach and allows the sufferer to sort out important things in their own time and not feel pressured. We can then return at a later date to remove any further unwanted material.

Carpet Removal

We are also able to take up carpets and underlay that may have become damaged due to the hoarding or mouse infestation. Our staff will remove all damaged material and unwanted contents then take them away in our own vehicles for disposal, and if required donated to charity – It’s really as simple as that, and whatever your circumstances may be, we are able to help.

This is just a brief guide and you may have special requirements, if so just contact Jeffrey Avery at our London office, in confidence on 0800 567 7769 for professional advice and plan of action.

Our House Clearance Services

We provide a full house clearance and property management solution:

  • We clear hoarded houses, regardless how big or how cluttered
  • We clear all types and sizes of property, irrespective of location, or access is restricted or where parking is difficult or not available.
  • We can help avoid water damage by draining the central heating system.
  • We can secure the property and change the locks.
  • We can reinstate the gardens and maintain them whilst the property is empty.
  • We can provide 24 hour security to eliminate the risk of squatting or unlawful occupation.

As well normal house clearances we specialise in clutter clearance and we can clear a hoarded house which may contain years of accumulated possessions, or which have abnormal amounts of general household items, sometimes as a result of compulsive hoarding syndrome.

Equally we can help to clear a property where the occupants were previously unwell and unable to care for themselves or their property which sometimes results in insanitary, dangerous or just plain unpleasant conditions.
